Meet Luna Chen, Founder of Coockino Recipes

About Coockino Recipes: Hi, I’m Luna Chen, the face, the hands, and the heart behind Coockino Recipes. Welcome to my little corner of the internet where kitchens smell like citrus and fried chicken, and every recipe comes with a story.

Why “Coockino”?

I was born in a bustling night market in Taipei, raised between the smoky woks of my grandmother’s street-food stall and the tiny apartment kitchen above it. My ah-ma never measured anything with spoons; she measured with her eyes, her nose, and the way love feels when it’s about to overflow. She used to say, “Good food doesn’t need to shout. It just needs to make someone close their eyes and smile.” That single sentence became my compass.

From the age of six I was perched on a plastic stool beside her, learning how to crisp chicken skin until it sang, how to balance mango sweetness against lime, how a handful of Thai basil and cherry tomatoes could turn a simple plate into sunshine.

My Story

Food was never just fuel in our family; it was language. When words failed, a bowl of hot noodle soup said “I’m sorry.” A plate of golden fried chicken with fresh mango salsa said “Congratulations, you did it.” And dessert, always dessert, said “Stay a little longer.”

After culinary school in Paris, stages in Bangkok and Barcelona, and years working in restaurants that demanded perfection, I realized something important: The meals I remembered most weren’t the ones with gold leaf and 18-course menus. They were the ones made with laughing, slightly burned fingers, and someone you love sitting across the table.

So I came home, to simple ingredients, bright flavors, and recipes that feel like a hug.

That’s when CoockinoRecipes was born: a love letter to everyone who believes cooking should be joyful, never intimidating.
